Augusta firefighters respond to structure fire on Second Avenue

AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Augusta Firefighters saved a man and his dog as crews responded to a house fire on Second Avenue

Augusta Firefighters responded to a structure fire at 1925 Second Avenue at 2:53 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Neighbors shouted there was a man trapped inside the structure.

Firefighters broke through a wall and carried the man out.

He was transported to the Doctors’s Hospital with minor burns.

Neighbors then alerted the firefighters there was also a dog still inside.

Firefighters then went back inside, rescued the dog, and gave it oxygen after it showed signs of distress.

While the rescues happened, other firefighters worked to extinguish the fire.

One firefighter was treated on the scene for a minor burn.
