AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – February is Black History Month, and Lynndale, Inc. in Augusta celebrated it with an event on Friday.

Different leaders in the community attended the event, including Augusta commissioners Don Clark and Wayne Guilfoyle and Richmond County deputies.

People were able to learn about figures like Rosa Parks and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and other facts about Black History Month.

An organizer of the event says they enjoy being able to put events like this on for people at Lynndale.

“Just see their smile because like I say they don’t get to smile a lot, things that people take for granted. They don’t get everything when they leave here. You don’t know what they are going home to or what group home they are going home to. But here, we give them the best of the best. Every employee in this place gives more than we get. We get everything through love,” said the organizer.

They also had performers and a speaker from the fire department.
