The year is off to a deadly start for the CSRA, now with six murders or suspicious deaths in Augusta, two homicides in Aiken, one in Waynesboro, one in Sparta and one in Monetta.
The slayings are among the latest in a more than two-year outbreak of violent crime that’s claimed about 200 lives across the CSRA.
Communities large and small have been affected on both sides of the Savannah River.
But as the largest city in the region, Augusta has been hit especially hard.
