1 arrested, 2 injured in daylight shooting on Drayton Drive in Augusta
AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) – Two people were injured in a shooting Monday afternoon in Augusta, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office is currently searching for 30-year-old Jeffery Davanta Jones in relation to the case. He is considered armed and dangerous.
Anyone that comes in contact with Jeffery Jones or has any information as to his whereabouts is asked to contact Investigator Monga or any on call Investigator with the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office at 706-821-1020 or 706-821-1034.
The shooting happened just after 12:15 p.m. in the 3700 block of Drayton Drive, according to deputies.
Upon arrival, deputies found one male victim who was shot at least one time in the right leg and another who’d been shot at least one time in the buttocks.
Both victims were taken to a hospital for treatment.

The shooting comes amid an outbreak of violent crime that’s claimed aboput 190 lives in a little over two years across the CSRA.
The crime outbreak has affected communities large and small, but as the biggest city in the region, Augusta has been hit especially hard.
Authorities have blamed much of the problem on gangs.
