Local nonprofit brings leaders together to lower gun violence in metro Atlanta

ATLANTA, Ga. (CBS46) – A neighborhood nonprofit introduced leaders collectively throughout a roundtable dialogue to deal with the problem of gun violence in metro Atlanta.

Saturday’s roundtable dialogue was hosted by BlackPush.

In the case of discovering options to gun violence, Shaun Smith, president and founding father of BlackPush, stated it begins with getting everybody concerned.

“That’s the group, these are the those that have the options to a lot of the issues that we now have once we speak about gun violence that I believe we will mobilize proper now to get work finished.”

The decision to mobilize was heard throughout the area this week.

Regulation enforcement leaders highlighted the problem of widespread gun violence after two sheriff deputies had been gunned down Thursday night time outdoors of a Marietta house whereas serving a warrant.

“We have to do one thing girls and gents about weapons on the road,” stated Cobb County Sheriff Craig Owens. “No matter you are able to do to stop gun violence, it’s affecting us right here in Cobb and affecting everybody throughout the state of America.”

Smith stated there must be extra conversations about gun violence, from prevention to psychological well being to bringing numerous applications into communities.

“How we convey the humanities into our communities,” stated Smith. “The humanities have been a savior for many communities, for me it’s been a savior, and we now have so many various tales about how artwork has saved folks.”
