Braves News: Series Win over Phillies, All-Star Teams Announced, More
The Braves came into this weekend with a clear need to get a series win against the Phillies.
And that is exactly what they did.
Even more importantly, they found success through one of their best offensive stretches of the season. For only the second time this season, Atlanta had three straight games with 5+ runs and 2+ home runs. And the result is a needed series win against the best team in the National League, including a statement win against one of the best arms in the National League in Ranger Suarez.
But the success must continue, because over the next two weeks, the Braves have some highly significant games that could impact playoff positioning down the line. This includes games on the road against Arizona and San Diego and then right after the All-Star Break against St. Louis. If the Braves can have a successful run over the next 10 games, and especially with Philadelphia having a very tough July schedule, Atlanta could really strengthen its playoff positioning as the season progresses.

Former Brave Kevin Pillar suggested that 2024 could likely be his last season.

Habitat for Humanity dedicates new Atlanta homes to Jimmy Carter
ATLANTA – Habitat for Humanity is continuing to celebrate the legacy of Jimmy Carter and his work with the organization by dedicating new homes to family in need in Atlanta the week of his 100th birthday.
Six more families will soon make memories in the homes in Browns Mill Village in South Atlanta thanks to Habitat for Humanity.
Habitat offers first-time home buyers in the neighborhood an interest-free mortgage as well as affordable homeowners association dues, which new homeowner Jameka Gray says is life-changing.
“I am so excited this is like a dream come true,” Gray said.
The homes sit on Carter Way, named in honor of Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter and their work with the Habitat.
“They are amazing global ambassadors, humanitarians, and they live out and fully practice what it means to believe in humanity,” Rosalyn Merrick, President and CEO of Atlanta Habitat for Humanity, said.
Habitat for Humanity remembers Rosalynn Carter for decades of volunteer service
The Carters were on Habitat sites for decades building homes. They helped build around 4500 in 14 different countries, including several here in Atlanta, during the Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter Work Projects.
“The Carters first got involved in 1984. In fact, just four years later, in 1988, we were fortunate here in Atlanta to host one of the inaugural Carter work projects where they built a blitz of 21 homes in just one week,” Merrick said.
“They’ve been the biggest champions that we could ever ask for for our particular cause, which focuses on all people having access to quality affordable housing in safe, vibrant neighborhoods with opportunities to thrive,” she added.

Braves News: Chris Sale begins throwing, Alex Anthopoulos’ presser, and more
The season may be over, but Friday brought a positive injury update for Atlanta Braves southpaw Chris Sale. In a meeting with the media, general manager Alex Anthopoulos announced that Sale threw a bullpen at Truist Park Friday and “felt great.”
Alex A. said Sale threw a bullpen today at Truist and felt great, and would’ve been on the NLDS roster if they had advanced. Said he basically threw today for “closure” before the offseason. AA also made it clear starting pitching isn’t an offseason priority like it was last year

Sale was slated to start earlier this week during game two of the doubleheader against the New York Mets. Minutes before first pitch, he was scratched with back spasms.
Sale would have likely been on the NLDS roster had the Braves made it that far, but unfortunately, it didn’t turn out that way.
