Heavy rain and colder temperatures finally arrive for Arkansas
LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — A soaking round of heavy rain is likely this weekend into early Monday. The coldest air of the season follows this strong cold front.
Widespread heavy rain is likely through the day on Saturday.
Another round is expected on Sunday into early Monday.
Rainfall totals will exceed 1 to 2 inches at many locations.
A swath of 3 to 5 inches of rain will likely fall from western into central and northern Arkansas.
The flash flood risk is low, but widespread flooding is not expected due to rainfall being spread out over 48 hours.
The coldest air of the season arrives after the front moves through the state.
Nearly a 40 degree difference in temperatures could be seen on Sunday. Temperatures will begin falling in central Arkansas on Sunday morning.
Highs on Monday will struggle to reach 50 at most locations around Arkansas.
This sets us up for a very chilly Halloween. Temperatures will be falling into the low 50s and 40s during the evening of October 31st.
The first widespread freeze and frost of the season is possible this week as colder air settles into Arkansas.
