July 19, 2022 (Hope, Ark.) — The Miss Southwest/Ouachita River Scholarship Competitions  have been held Saturday, July 16 at Hempstead Corridor on the campus of the College of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana. Eight candidates competed for 2 Miss Titles and 5 candidates competed  for 2 Teen Titles. Over $13,000 in scholarship funds, in-kind presents, and prizes have been awarded. 

Following competitors in non-public interview, on-stage interview/social influence pitch, expertise, and  night robe, Allie Graves of Texarkana, Texas, was topped Miss Southwest 2023. Melody Stotts of Texarkana, Arkansas, was topped Miss Ouachita River 2023. Graves obtained the total expertise award. Stotts obtained the general night robe award and the title of Miss Congeniality.  

Teen candidates have been judged in non-public interview, life-style/health, expertise and night  robe/onstage query. Chloe Hargis of Woodlawn was topped Miss Southwest OT 2023  and Allie Bell of Conway was topped Miss Ouachita River OT. Hargis obtained the general  night robe award and Miss Congeniality title.  

Graves, Stotts, Hargis and Bell will compete within the Miss Arkansas and Miss Arkansas Excellent Teen competitions June 3-10, 2023 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Particular company have been Miss Arkansas 2022, Ebony Mitchell, and Miss Arkansas Excellent Teen  2022, Ka’Mya Tackett. Miss Arkansas 2021, Whitney Williams served because the Mistress of  Ceremonies. Miss Southwest 2022 Gabriella Tidwell, Miss Ouachita River 2022 Kelsie Everett,  and Miss Ouachita River OT 2022, Mikala Clendenin carried out and topped the brand new  representatives on the finish of the night time.  

Jamie Pafford-Gresham is the present Government Director of the Miss Southwest and Miss  Ouachita River Scholarship Competitions. Her love for the Miss Arkansas Group  developed from her daughter’s involvement and seeing her develop as an individual via the  preparation and group involvement required for the candidates. Jamie and the board of  administrators for the competitors have been awarded “Native Preliminary Competitors of the 12 months” by the  Miss Arkansas Group Board of Administrators in 2019.
