BENTONVILLE — Northwest Arkansas Community College plans to announce men’s and women’s outdoor track as its next sport, Athletic Director Brooke Brewer said Monday.

Brewer outlined the plans at a Board of Trustees retreat before the board’s regular monthly meeting.

The official announcement of the outdoor track addition will occur at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at a launch party on campus at the Walmart Auditorium at the Shewmaker Center for Workforce Development, Brewer said.

Track will include just running events — no field events such as shot put or high jump, she said.

The college currently has two sports: men’s and women’s cross country and esports.

“I want to be as aggressive as we can possibly be without compromising quality,” Brewer said of building the athletic department.

Northwest Arkansas Community College is a member of the National Junior College Athletic Association. The college hired Brewer in August as the its first full-time athletic director.
