US jury convicts man in deadly Alabama kidnapping of child

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — An Alabama man was convicted Friday on two federal prices in a 2019 kidnapping that led to the demise of a 3-year-old woman, whose disappearance from a Birmingham celebration led to 10 days of frantic searches.

Patrick Devone Stallworth, 42, was convicted on the 2 kidnapping counts and faces a sentence of life in jail within the abduction of Kamille “Cupcake” McKinney, in accordance with a launch from the U.S. Legal professional’s Workplace in Birmingham.

Birmingham information retailers say Stallworth is also going through a state capital homicide cost within the case.

The kid vanished from a celebration on Oct. 12, 2019. The searches ended with the invention of her physique in a landfill 10 days later.

Medical specialists testified that the little woman died by asphyxia and that she had methamphetamine, Trazodone and Benadryl in her system.

Prosecutors mentioned Stallworth and his girlfriend had deliberate to kidnap a toddler on the day the woman disappeared. The girlfriend, Derick Irisha Brown, has pleaded not responsible within the case and is awaiting a November federal trial. She faces the identical state and federal prices as Stallworth. No dates have been set within the state case.
