Lawmakers present plan to address Alabama’s growing physician shortage
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – Some Alabama lawmakers need to tackle the rising doctor scarcity occurring throughout the state. State Senator April Weaver sponsored a invoice that takes a multi-faceted strategy to the scarcity. SB 155 or the Doctor Workforce Act was launched to the Senate Healthcare Committee in early April and it’s presently awaiting a vote. Affiliate Dean for Main Care and Rural Well being at UAB, Dr. Irfan Asif says the state may have a scarcity of over 600 major care suppliers by 2030.
