Right when you start to think the Aggies are hitting their stride, they have a game like this. I’ll give them a small amount of slack due to the weather, but to get run-ruled on Senior day is less than ideal. A solo home run is all Texas A&M (30-21, 12-14 SEC) muster in game two falling 12-1 to Alabama (33-18, 12-14 SEC).
Alabama returned the favor today by starting off hot and then not allowing the Aggies to get anything going offensively. After three innings Texas A&M was down 4-0 but the game still seemed in reach, until a massive fifth inning for the Tide. The Aggies kept giving up singles pushing the lead to 7-0 and for another blow to the ego, Alabama hit two home runs before the inning was over.
Now in the run-rule territory down 12-0, the Maroon & White needed some of that Olsen Magic again this year, but unfortunately, that bottle had run dry today. Instead of mounting a rally three of their better batters got retired in order for a quick end to the fifth.
Jace LaViolette produced the only run of the game for the Aggies on a solo homer over the center field wall. After a brief weather delay, Texas A&M struck out twice and left one runner on base for a final score of 12-1 in Alabama’s favor.
