Alabama Red Cross sending volunteers to Florida for Hurricane Ian

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – With Hurricane Ian looming, Alabamians are making ready to assist these in want.

Based on Pink Cross spokesperson Annette Rowland, two North Alabama volunteers will go away for Orlando on Tuesday to help these in want. She stated the volunteers will journey in Pink Cross vehicles. These autos are full of meals, water, blankets, clothes, bedding, and different necessities.

Rowland stated staying ready is the easiest way volunteers may help.

”That point is the distinction between having the ability to assist someone once they really want it or coming in after the actual fact,” Rowland stated. “Individuals are hungry, they usually haven’t had energy for days, and they’re asking the place are folks. That’s why we preposition issues.”

Although they’ll get to Florida earlier than the storm hits, they’ll do every little thing they will to remain secure.

She stated the accountability of the Pink Cross is to be second responders.

“We’re not first responders, we’re second responders,” she stated. “We’re going to ensure first responders have given us the all-clear earlier than we go in. We’re not going to place our volunteers or any of our workforce in hurt’s means.”
