MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) – Beginning this fall, Montpelier law enforcement officials will likely be participating in a pilot bias coaching program. This comes via a partnership with the Virginia primarily based analysis group CNA and the U.S. Division of Justice.

Montpelier is considered one of a number of departments nationwide taking part within the research. The DOJ will use outcomes from these coaching periods to construct a program that may assist all departments.

Montpelier Chief Brian Peete says most departments endure bias coaching, however there isn’t a common program for them to undergo.

Officers from Barre, Northfield, Berlin, and several other others will even be taking part.
