Vermont Corrections employees to work 12-hour shifts
WATERBURY, Vt. (WCAX) – It’s official– staff inside the Vermont Division of Corrections will work 12-hour shifts.
The prolonged shifts, which begin in late August, are geared toward stabilizing the system and stemming the tide of burnout and turnover.
It’s in an effort to create a extra predictable schedule for the workers and to start filling open positions; about one-quarter of the roles in Vermont prisons are open proper now.
Beneath the brand new settlement, workers will obtain an extra pay bump and incentives for brand new hires and referrals.
The 12-hour staffing settlement is momentary and is scheduled to finish in March.
