River Hawks Run to Third Place Finish at Vermont Invite – UMass Lowell Athletics

ST. ALBANS, Vt.—

The UMass Lowell ladies’s cross nation staff kicked off the season sturdy, claiming third general on the 2022 Vermont Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
 
“I could not be extra happy with how we raced. The ladies excelled with 5 out of six freshmen putting,” stated Head Coach Gary Gardner. “They raced mature and hard at present.”
 
Junior Mary Yount (Northampton, Mass.) led the way in which for the River Hawks in St. Albans, clocking in at 18:36.10 within the ladies’s 5K to say fourth general.
 
Freshmen Mary-Kate Finn (Nashua, N.H.) and Dantia Braccio (Nashua, N.H.) made a splash of their collegiate debuts with a pair of top-10 performances. Finn logged an 18:45.30 end to take seventh general, whereas Braccio took tenth with an 18:46.20 time.
 
Becoming a member of their classmates, rookies Kylie Marion (Baldwinville, Mass.) and Mia Jones (Blacksburg, Va.) impressed of their first outings as River Hawks, putting fifteenth and seventeenth general. Making her first look on the course, sophomore Kaitlyn Stevens completed in 19:51.60 to complete twenty sixth.
 
The River Hawks look to proceed their early season success on Saturday, Sept. 17, on the UMass Dartmouth Invitational in North Dartmouth, Mass.
