Higher education and technology leaders named to Vermont Technology Council

Burlington, Vt. (September 16, 2022) – 5 seasoned leaders with experience in schooling, enterprise, and innovation have joined the Vermont Know-how Council.

Alex Hernandez, president, Champlain Faculty; Lindsay Kurrle, VT secretary of Commerce and Group Improvement; Mark Anarumo, president, Norwich College; Kirk Dombrowski, vice chairman of analysis, College of Vermont; and Pam Mackenzie, serial expertise govt and nonprofit chief, have joined the Council.

“These people advance the Council’s objective of a vibrant, sustainable, and inclusive innovation financial system in Vermont,” stated Frank Cioffi, Council chair and president of the Larger Burlington Industrial Company (GBIC).

The brand new Council members be a part of Frank Cioffi, president of GBIC, Robert Miller, CEO of the Vermont State Workers Credit score Union (VSECU) and Dr. John Evans, chair of PC Development.

With help from Governor Phil Scott’s administration and the College of Vermont, the Council works to construct a stronger and extra sustainable ecosystem for Vermonters by supporting science, expertise, innovation, and entrepreneurship. The Council fosters a community that brings collectively analysis from Vermont’s entrepreneurs, schools and universities, and authorities.

Shifting ahead, the Council is concentrated on 4 objectives: Workforce Improvement, R&D Pipeline, Innovation Tradition, and Infrastructure and helps key efforts round:

Know-how and innovation coverage (Vermont Science & Know-how Plan, Vermont EPSCoR, UVM Workplace of Engagement and the Vermont Know-how Alliance)
Entrepreneurship in increased schooling (UVM ARC program, scholar internships)
Startups & Ecosystem occasions throughout Vermont communities (VCET, TechJam)
Growing STEM sources and applications in Vermont Okay-12 schooling (Vermont Academy of Scientists and Engineers)
