Driver fell asleep at the wheel in head-on crash, Vermont police say

ROCKINGHAM, Vt. (WCAX) – Police say a driver who fell asleep on the wheel was accountable for a head-on crash in Rockingham on Monday.

It occurred on Route 5 close to Webb Terrace shortly earlier than 6:30 p.m.

Vermont State Police say Kobe Blaze, 19, of Bellows Falls, was driving south when he fell asleep behind the wheel and drifted throughout the middle line, hitting an oncoming car head-on.

The opposite driver, Payton Smith, 22, of Weathersfield, was taken to the hospital with accidents that weren’t life-threatening. Blaze had minor accidents.

Investigators discovered Blaze at fault for the crash. To date, no tickets have been issued.

Each SUVs had been totaled within the wreck.
