Rhode Island man appears in court on Hanson child rape charge

HANSON, Mass. — A Rhode Island man charged with baby rape after authorities say he appeared in a social media video with an underage sufferer was in court docket Monday.

Jared Soltys, 23, of Windfall, was arraigned on costs of statutory rape of a kid and procuring liquor for an individual below 21. The state struck the “aggravated” portion of the cost at his arraignment.

Soltys was held on $5,000 money bail and ordered to avoid the victims and out of the cities of Hanson and Bridgewater. The prosecution had initially sought bail of $50,000.

Soltys was arrested round 1:30 a.m. Saturday within the Nice Avenue space of Hanson. Officers responding to a tip that an underage baby was filmed in a Snapchat video with Soltys spoke with each him and the minor and arrested him on possible trigger, in accordance with the prosecution.

Police allege the case entails two victims.
