Rhode Island DEM: Air quality alert issued for Thursday | ABC6
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management is issuing an air quality alert for Thursday, June 20, predicting that air quality will reach unhealthy levels during the afternoon and into the evening.
The alert from RIDEM is being issued for Providence, Kent and Bristol counties due to elevated ground level ozone concentrations.
The highest readings are predicted for the Providence metropolitan area, and fine particle readings are expected to reach moderate in northern Rhode Island.
Residents are encouraged to limit outdoor exercise and stay inside an air conditioned environment if possible during the peak hours.
