Local recreation projects across Rhode Island receiving more than $4 million in grants | ABC6

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — Gov. Dan McKee, Lt. Gov. Sabina Matos, and the Division of Environmental Administration introduced on Wednesday the awarding of $4.1 million in matching grants to develop or renovate leisure initiatives in Rhode Island.

The grants will fund 16 initiatives throughout the state, together with new athletic fields, playgrounds, a splash park, a canine park, and varied website enhancements.

“Investments in leisure amenities knit our communities collectively and are integral to each bodily and psychological well being and well-being,” stated McKee. “For this reason I included a price range article proposing a $38 million Inexperienced Economic system and Clear Water bond that may capitalize future native recreation spending in my fiscal yr 2023 price range. • East Greenwich: Eldridge Park Enhancements, $400,000
• East Windfall: Kent Heights Leisure Facility Renovation, $400,000
• North Windfall: Coletti Athletic Complicated, $400,000
• Windfall: Roger Williams Park Boardwalk and Fishing/Boating Pier, $400,000
• Warwick: Apponaug Recreation Complicated Enhancements, $320,000
• West Warwick: Crompton Playground and Stephen Clarke Recreation Space, $400,000

An Acquisition grant was awarded to Woonsocket’s Acquisition for Cass Park Enlargement for the quantity of $312,500.
