DEM advises anglers to test with native municipal recreation departments concerning protected ice circumstances on native ponds earlier than ice fishing. DEM doesn’t monitor ice circumstances in native communities. DEM’s Division of Parks and Recreation gives details about Lincoln Woods State Park in Lincoln, Meshanticut State Park in Cranston, and Goddard Memorial State Park in Warwick. Ice will need to have a uniform thickness of not less than 6 inches earlier than it’s thought-about protected by DEM. It usually takes not less than 5 to seven consecutive days of temperatures within the low 20s for ice to type, and its energy of it’s decided by a number of elements equivalent to the scale, and depth of a pond, the presence of springs or currents, and native temperature fluctuations.

Details about stocked freshwaters, and the scale and creel limits for all freshwater fish species can be found within the 2022-23 Freshwater Fishing Summary, or by calling DEM’s Nice Swamp Discipline Workplace at 789-0281.
