Suburban Pittsburgh Woman Dies In Violent Crash

PITTSBURGH, PA — A woman is dead following a multi-vehicle crash in the city’s South Side on Monday.

Police arrived at the scene in the 3900 block of East Carson Street. The initial investigation shows a truck was traveling eastbound when it crossed the center line and collided head-on with an SUV heading westbound.

The truck rolled over in the street and the SUV went through a guardrail and down an embankment towards the nearby railroad tracks. The driver of the SUV required extrication by rescue crews.

The driver of the SUV was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead a shot time later. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified her as Mary Alice Bendick of White Oak.

The unidentified woman driving the truck is in serious condition at an area hospital.

A third vehicle sustained minor damage with the driver reporting no injuries.
