Pittsburg BB gun vandalism suspect arrested
(KRON) — A suspect who police say targeted multiple businesses over a months-long campaign of vandalism involving a pellet gun was arrested, the Pittsburg Police Department announced Thursday. The arrest was in connection to a series of incidents involving businesses on Garcia Avenue.
Vandals used pellet guns to shoot at the glass windows of the businesses. This resulted in “significant financial losses” amounting to several thousands of dollars, police said.
In response to the attacks, police said the property owner installed surveillance cameras. These cameras were successful in capturing the culprit in action.
The footage provided a lead for Pittsburg PD Detective Lefterov. Over several weeks, Lefterov gathered substantial evidence and identified the suspect in the vandalism incidents, police said.
Pittsburg PD served several arrest warrants which lead to the confiscation of:
- A BB gun
- An air rifle
- Numerous copper BBs
- Suspected illicit substances
The suspect in the case was arrested and charged with eight counts of felony vandalism.
