Kenny Chesney is coming back to Pittsburgh. Here’s what you need to know for Saturday’s concert
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — Country music superstar Kenny Chesney returns to Pittsburgh this weekend for a much-anticipated concert at Acrisure Stadium.
Chesney and his “Sun Goes Down Tour” return to Pittsburgh for the 12th time on Saturday with special guests Zac Brown Band, Megan Moroney and Uncle Kracker.
Chesney last played in Pittsburgh in June 2022. Last summer, he played in State College in March during his “I Go Back Tour.”
Tailgating details for Kenny Chesney’s Pittsburgh concert
Parking lots open at 1 p.m. on Saturday, with all parking lots surrounding Acrisure Stadium open for visitors.
“Fans are encouraged to use North Shore parking lots, including the Champions Garage and other North Shore lots,” Acrisure Stadium said in a news release on Tuesday.
All gates at the stadium open at 4 p.m., and the concert kicks off at 5 p.m. Anyone with floor seats must use Gate 6 north endzone on Reedsdale Street.
Transportation options for Kenny Chesney concert in Pittsburgh
People attending the Kenny Chesney concert on Saturday are encouraged to park in Downtown Pittsburgh and ride the light rail to Acrisure Stadium. The ride on the light rail is free.
Fans can also park at Station Square and ride the Gateway Clipper to the North Shore for $30.
“The majority of the downtown Pittsburgh Parking Authority garages will charge $6 – $20 for event day parking that will vary by garage,” Acrisure Stadium said in Tuesday’s news release.
Officials also want to remind anyone going to the concert that the Ninth Street Bridge and Merchant Street will be closed due to the Arts Festival and Pittsburgh Pride. Fort Duquesne Boulevard between Sixth and Ninth streets will also be closed.
Kenny Chesney concert bag policy
Fans are encouraged not to bring a bag to the Kenny Chesney concert on Saturday. If a bag is necessary, fans can use two types: a clear plastic bag the size of a 1-gallon Ziploc bag or a small handheld purse clutch.
Acrisure Stadium is also a cashless venue.
Tens of thousands of people coming for concert experience
Tens of thousands of people are set to make their way to the North Shore to experience the Kenny Chesney concert.
Parked along the North Shore, some people have been waiting on their boats for weeks.
“We just wanted a spot, and this is where we chose to be at. And we’re just looking forward to some fun this weekend,” boater Ricky Sparrow said.
NORTH HUNTINGDON, Pa. (KDKA) — North Huntingdon is moving to a new way to send alerts to residents.
The township says residents will soon be able to update contact information, subscribe to different alerts, and get push notifications through an app.
The transition is set for July 15, 2024, and the township says all existing alert subscribers will be shifted to the new system called Everbridge, but people will need to create an Everbridge account to use the new features.
LAS VEGAS (KDKA) – The Penguins are set to make at least six picks on the second day of the 2024 NHL Entry Draft in Las Vegas.
They currently hold two picks in the second round, 44th and 46th overall; one pick in the fourth round, 111th overall; one in the sixth round, 175th overall; and two in the seventh round, 207th and 223rd overall.
The 44th overall pick was acquired by the Penguins in the Jake Guentzel trade with the Carolina Hurricanes and the 223rd overall pick was acquired in a 2023 NHL Entry Draft trade with the New York Rangers.
The Penguins did not have a pick in the first round of the draft after trading that pick to the San Jose Sharks last summer when the team acquired defenseman Erik Karlsson.
Day two of the NHL Entry Draft gets started at 11:30 a.m. EST at the Sphere in Las Vegas.

BUTLER, Pa. (KDKA) — A Butler Township couple says a man pulled a gun on them for verbally comforting his dog, which had been left alone inside a car.
Township police told KDKA-TV they are in the early stages of an investigation into what happened.
“I really thought I was gonna lose my life, and he was gonna shoot me,” said J.R Hunt. “He pointed it right at my face. I’m still shaking when I think about it. Anytime I see a vehicle that looks like his, I start shaking.”
Hunt and his wife were at the GetGo store near the Route 8 and Route 422 interchange when they saw the dog alone inside a car on the warm Friday. The man said there was only a small opening in the window and the dog was visibly panting.
They began verbally comforting the dog while they waited for the owner to come out, Hunt said. When he did, he began screaming at Hunt’s wife, asking if they were doing something with his dog.
Hunt’s wife explained she was talking to the dog because it was hot outside. She and Hunt got back in their car and told the man that if he did not give the dog water, the dog could die.
“And that’s when he started screaming obscenities, ‘I was only in there for five minutes, why are you talking to my dog, you’re doing stuff to my dog.’ And this and that. And we were saying, we are just trying to make sure the dog is all right.”
Hunt said the dog’s owner had to have been in the store for at least 10 or 15 minutes.
The dog’s owner told Hunt and his wife to get out of their car. Hunt showed the man his leg. He walks with a cane.
“I said I’m handicapped, I’m not getting out of the vehicle. Then he went to come to the window as we were leaving and he had something to his side, and I didn’t know if it was a gun or a taser. And then he pointed it at me,” Hunt said.
That was the moment Hunt and his wife drove off. Hunt described what he saw as a pistol.
“I want that person to go to jail, and know they did something wrong, to not only me, but that poor puppy,” Hunt said.
He says if they could take over caring for what he described as a beagle mix, he would. They already have 2 dogs.
The next time he sees a dog in a hot car, he says he’ll leave it to police to help the pup.
“It’s just so hard to even process why someone could be that cruel to someone who was just saying you need to get your dog some water,” Hunt said.
