Authorities: Patient detained by police after attacking 2 medics in Downtown Pittsburgh
Charges are expected against a man accused of attacking two medics who were treating him Tuesday afternoon in Downtown Pittsburgh.
The two medics, a man and a woman, suffered superficial bruises and were taken to a local hospital to be evaluated, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety.
The incident began when city police and medics responded at 4 p.m. to a report of a suspected overdose at Third Avenue and Wood Street. After locating the patient, whose name was not released, police cleared the scene and medics prepared to take the man to an area hospital.
But the patient became violent with the medics and was detained by police. He was taken by a different ambulance unit for medical evaluation, according to police.
