Union Auto Workers (UAW) members voted against the ratification of a collective bargaining agreement and will begin a strike on Monday, Mack Trucks said in a press release Sunday evening.
According to the press release, the workers rejected the five-year agreement, which covers about 3,900 employees across Mack Truck facilities in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Florida.
The announcement comes just one week after UAW and Mack Trucks reached a tenative agreement to avoid an immediate strike.
Mack Trucks is part of the Gothenburg, Sweden-based Volvo Group, which employs about 100,000 people worldwide. It employs 2,700 people at a plant in Lower Macungie Township, Lehigh County — 2,300 of whom are represented by UAW.
