Pennsylvania State Senate Worker Fails With Appeal in Bias Suit
The Democratic Caucus of the Pennsylvania Senate didn’t waive sovereign immunity from a former worker’s disability bias suit when it distributed federal Covid-19 relief funds, the Third Circuit ruled.
Rondabay Liggins-McCoy worked for 11 years in Anthony Williams’ (D) office as a constituent services staffer and was formally employed by the Caucus, the court said. She started to miss work and take leave in the course of treating her cancer. An HR representative from the Caucus was present when Williams’ chief of staff informed Liggins-McCoy her position would be eliminated.
