Holiday Parades, Christmas Village: Events This Weekend Around Philly

PENNSYLVANIA — Looking for something fun to do in the Philadelphia area this weekend with family, or to get you moving after all that Thanksgiving dinner? The calendar is packed with local events on this last weekend in November, as we head into the 2023 holiday season.

Here’s a look at what Patch found on the events calendar this Saturday and Sunday in the Philly area (Nov. 25 and 26).

Center City is in the full holiday swing, as Christmas Village in Philadelphia is opening this weekend. LOVE Park, City Hall’s Courtyard, and North Broad sections have been transformed into an open-air German Christmas Market, with more than 120 vendors. The Christmas Village runs through Sunday, Dec. 24. (Read more on Patch.)

See a holiday standby on stage, as the Bucks County Playhouse is putting on “Irving Berlin’s White Christmas” through Dec. 31. The musical, based on the Hollywood classic movie, feature songs including “Blue Skies,” “Sisters,” and “How Deep Is the Ocean?” Showtimes this weekend are Saturday at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and Sunday at 2 p.m. Click here for tickets.

Downtown West Chester is decked out for the beginning of Chester County Hospital Lights Up Holiday Weekends, a six-week celebration featuring dozens of festive experiences. A free concert by the St. Agnes Parish Combined Choirs is going on Saturday, and Santa will take a ride through town on a fire truck. (Read more on Patch.)

A unique holiday market is coming to the Hortulus Farm and Nursery in Wrightstown this holiday weekend. Beginning this weekend, the public is invited to celebrate “Christmas at Hortulus” with a European Holiday Market and the debut of Santa’s Village Experience. More than 30 vendors and food trucks will be set up at the farm and garden center on weekends through Dec. 16 and 17. (Read more on Patch.)

The Kennett Square Holiday Light Parade is Saturday, beginning at 6:15 p.m. and featuring floats, brightly-lit vehicles, holiday music, and a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus during the Christmas tree lighting. The parade will follow a new route this year, starting at the intersection of South Broad and West Cypress, then heading north to State Street and traveling west along State to Center Street.
