A Central Park Garden, Renewed

Published

The garden’s three sections have different styles: French, Italianate and English. Since it opened in 1937, 44 flowering crab apple trees have lined the two allées, or walkways, in the central, Italianate section.

The original trees were replaced in the mid-1950s when they began to rot. In recent years, it became clear that the second batch of trees was nearing the end of its days.
