President Trump pauses federal aid to Ukraine
World leaders are reacting to President Donald Trump’s decision to pause federal aid to Ukraine.
- The federal government said 440 properties are included in the “not core to government operations, or non-core properties.”
- The New Jersey properties including one in Paterson and Newark.
The Trump administration announced the government is looking to sell federal “non-core” office space to the private sector, and three of New Jersey buildings are included in the sale.
The federal government said 440 properties are included in the “not core to government operations, or non-core properties.” Courthouses, law enforcement buildings and land ports of entry are not included in the “non-core” list, said the U.S. General Services Administration in a press release.
Those properties include three located in the Garden State.
The Veterans Administration Building at 20 Washington Place in Newark is included in that list. The regional building is currently operated by the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs.
The second federally-owned property in New Jersey that looks to be disposed is the Robert A. Roe Federal building located in Paterson. The building, which is located at 200 Federal Plaza, is home to a state probation office.
The final federal property is surface parking lot in Newark, but the GSA website does not provide an exact location of where in the city.
The GSA, which oversees $110 billion in products and services from the federal government, said these building need to be sold because of “decades of funding deficiencies.”
The agency described the buildings as “functionally obsolete and unsuitable for use by our federal workforce.” The GSA claims about $430 million annual operating costs would be saved from diverting the federal ownership of the properties.
