Teen Airlifted, 2 Others Injured In Manchester Crash
MANCHESTER, NJ — A teenage girl had to be flown to the hospital Saturday after she and two other people were injured in a crash on Commonwealth Boulevard at Beacon Street after one driver ran a stop sign, Manchester police said.
The 17-year-old girl, who was not identified because of her age, was the passenger in a silver 2006 Honda Accord driven by Marco Flores, 19, of Lakewood. She was flown to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune and was listed as stable on Monday, Capt. James Komsa said.
Also injured were John Biruk, 77, of Manchester, and his passenger, Shirley Marziali, 78, also of Manchester, Komsa said. They were taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River for treatment of injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, he said. Both were listed as stable, Komsa said.
Biruk was driving a red 2017 Subaru Legacy east on Commonwealth Boulevard about 6 p.m. Saturday when Flores, who was driving north on Beacon Street, ran a stop sign and went into the path of the Subaru, which hit the Honda on the front passenger side, police said.
Both cars wound up on the front lawn of a home on the 1100 block of Beacon Street, with the Subaru facing west, police said.
Assisting at the scene were emergency medical technicians from the Manchester Township Division of Emergency Services, and volunteer firefighters from Ridgeway and Manchester Fire Company. Also assisting at the scene were Paramedics from Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Accurate Towing.
Patrolman Brendan Brush is investigating.
