Tilton Man Killed After Being  Struck By Boat On Lake Winnisquam


TILTON, NH – A 76-year-old man from Tilton has died after the scull rowing boat was struck by a pontoon boat on Lake Winnisquam Sunday, according to New Hampshire Marine Patrol.

Marine Patrol unit was notified of a boating crash at 6:42 a.m. on Lake Winnisquam, officers responded and determined Thomas Mead, 76, of Tilton had been operating a scull when he was struck by a pontoon boat.

A 17-year-old operator of the pontoon boat was able to get Mead aboard the vessel and began CPR. The operator continued resuscitation efforts until fire rescue units arrived on the scene.

Mead was then transported by ambulance to Concord Hospital in Laconia, where he was pronounced deceased, according to officers.

Police from Tilton and Sanbornton responded, as did the Belmont Fire Department, Franklin Fire Department, and Tilton-Northfield Fire & EMS.

HAMPSTEAD, N.H. (WHDH) – Authorities have launched an investigation after responding to a reported untimely death in Hampstead, New Hampshire, officials said.

The Attorney General’s Office is investigating the untimely death of a woman at a home in Hampstead, Attorney General John M. Formella announced.

While the investigation is just beginning, there is no known threat to the general public at this time.
