Passenger who helped end rampage on flight to Boston honored in New Hampshire
EXETER, N.H. – A person who helped cease a rampage on a flight to Boston earlier this month was honored in New Hampshire Friday.
Jeff Neil was one of many passengers flying from Los Angeles to Logan Airport on United Flight 2609 again on March 5.
With about an hour left on the flight, prosecutors say Francisco Severo Torres,33, of Leominster, tried to open an emergency door after which tried to stab a flight attendant with a damaged spoon.
Neil was a part of a bunch of passengers who helped restrain Torres till the flight landed. Nobody was damage. Torres was arrested.
Neil, who lives in Exeter, New Hampshire, was honored by the police division there Friday for his heroism. He was given a crystal plaque citizen award.
“Mr. Neil’s actions that day are a reminder that on a regular basis heroes dwell amongst us, right here in Exeter and in communities all throughout the globe. They quietly go about their every day lives, however when a disaster unexpectedly presents itself and so they really feel compelled to behave, they’ll reply with out hesitation,” Exeter Police Chief Stephan Poulin stated in a press release.
Neil, who’s a former bouncer, stated he is not a hero, however admitted he “was in the best place on the proper time.”
