Nahant lawyer accused of storming Massachusetts Republican headquarters arraigned

The retired Nahant lawyer accused of stirring up some hassle on the Massachusetts GOP headquarters in February has been arraigned.

Hugh Samson, 72, was arraigned at Woburn District courtroom on a cost of disorderly conduct and launched on private recognizance. He’ll subsequent seem in courtroom on June 14.

Staffers on the state Republican Social gathering headquarters allege that Samson compelled his manner into nonpublic areas of their Woburn headquarters places of work and demanded to know whether or not the celebration directed the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021.

He’s alleged to have known as the few staffers there that day “(expletive) fascists” and likewise that he would come again with a “weapon,” the Herald beforehand reported.

Samson’s lawyer, Kevin Mitchell, stated at a March 10 Justice of the Peace listening to that Samson made a sarcastic remark that if he introduced a weapon then possibly they’d reply his questions as a result of he stated Republicans see carrying weapons as “respectable political discourse.”

Mitchell stated the remark was made to be “obnoxious” and to “provoke a response, however not a violent response.” He stated the remark needs to be upheld on First Modification grounds as “political hyperbole.”
