Massachusetts police report needles were found in Halloween candy: ‘All trick or treat candy should be inspected’

You know all those warnings about checking your kids’ Halloween candy?

A Cape Cod police department is reporting that a family found dangerous items in their Snickers and Twix after trick-or-treating this week.

The Sandwich Police Department is investigating after an 8-year-old boy reportedly found a sewing needle inside a piece of Halloween candy.

Police on Wednesday evening responded to a home, where a mother said her son noticed something poking out of his Halloween candy — a Snickers “fun size” bar.

The wrapper had a puncture hole, and a sewing needle was found inside the candy bar, police reported.

The boy’s mother then checked her other children’s candy, and she found a Twix candy bar that also had a sewing needle.

The family went trick-or-treating along the Main Street area of Sandwich.

“The police department is recommending that all trick or treat candy should be inspected,” Sandwich Police posted. “If your child was trick or treating in the downtown area of Sandwich, please be extra vigilant in checking your children’s candy.”

The police department has not received any other similar complaints.
