Massachusetts police clued in to wealthy family's mansion murders with three sheets of paper and chilling note
Grisly new details emerged this week in the murder-suicide of a seemingly wealthy Massachussetts family who were all found shot to death late last year in their sprawling $4 million mansion, according to a new report.
Rakesh “Rick” Kamal, 57, fatally shot his wife, Teena, 54, and their 18-year-old daughter, Arianna, as they slept in their beds three days after Christmas. He then climbed into a bathtub and turned the gun on himself, the Boston Globe reported.
While appearing affluent to outsiders, the Kamals were hopelessly buried in debt – and were scheduled for eviction from their 11-bedroom Dover mansion nestled on five acres the day of the slayings.

Responding to a 911 call, police entered the residence on Dec. 28 and found a typed note addressed to the person who was scheduled to pick up the keys, according to the local newspaper’s account of a 63-page police report.
“Please note,” it read. “Before entering call the Police to first check three bedrooms on the second floor. Each room will be marked by a white sheet of paper.”
Police found each of the bodies behind those demarcated doors.

The calculated killings shocked relatives and convulsed the wealthy local community.
Neighbors in Dover – a suburb of Boston – knew Rick Kamal as a wealthy entrepreneur and dedicated father.

But beneath their veneer of wealth, the family were drowning in debt and stress.
Rick – who had filed for bankruptcy and been served with a foreclosure notice three months before the killings – owed his brother Manoj $150,000. The sibling had given his brother the loans in a string of $5,000 increments, according to the Globe.

The broke businessman was also given money by his mother, and he eventually sank her bank account to nearly nothing.
Aware of their mounting financial pressures, Teena recently told Manoj that she wanted to “drive their family off a cliff due to the recent stress they were under,” according to the report.

Manoj – who found the bodies and called police – told investigators that his brother had spun a web of deceit for years on end.
“[Manoj] thinks every conversation he has had with Rakesh the past five years was a lie,” his wife’s sister told police.

Marybeth Bisson, the developer of the Kamals’ enormous home, also financed its sale to the family.
She told investigators that Rick had begun concocting excuses for missing mortgage payments and pleaded with her not to discuss the situation with his wife.
On Dec. 23, five days before the killings, a fax was sent to the company holding Teena’s $1.25 million life insurance policy to add Manoj as a beneficiary.
The Globe reported that the Kamals FaceTimed with relatives in India on Christmas Day and that there was nothing out of the ordinary about the exchange.

Rick texted his brother the following day to cancel a scheduled get-together. He also texted Arianna’s boyfriend to nix his upcoming visit to the family.
The boyfriend told police that Arianna had confided some of her family’s troubles to him, hinting at one point that Teena wanted to leave her father but that they seemed to be on the mend.
At the same time, Rick was in regular communication with his home’s developer to discuss his departure.
After not hearing from his brother for several days, Manoj went to the home, known as “Enchanted Acres,” and called 911.
The Kamals bought the mansion for just under $4 million, according to records. The Zillow estimate for the 20,000-square-foot compound is nearly $7 million.

Momo Nkugwa’s two free throws and TJ Hurley’s defensive block in the final 18 seconds of regulation allowed Vermont basketball to squeeze past Binghamton for a 60-59 America East Conference victory in front of 1,874 at Patrick Gym on Thursday, Jan. 8.
Nkugwa, a freshman, sank both attempts at the line with 18 seconds to play for a 60-59 advantage, and Hurley followed with a block in the paint to deny Binghamton’s Jeremiah Quigley’s layup attempt.
Despite Vermont’s second straight win to open conference play, coach John Becker said his team was fortunate to take the victory against a Binghamton ranked 362 out of 364 Division I teams in kenpom rating.
“Great to win a game you shouldn’t win. I thought Binghamton deserved to win the game with how we played,” Becker said.
Gus Yalden, who was limited with a calf injury, led Vermont (10-7, 2-0) with 15 points and five rebounds in 19-plus minutes. Sean Blake added nine points, while Nkugwa and Ben Michaels chipped in eight points apiece.
For Binghamton (4-13, 0-2), Quigley collected 21 points and 10 boards and Wes Peterson dropped 11 points. The visiting Bearcats owned a 36-31 margin at the break and led for the majority of the game, but shot just 26.9% from the floor in the second half.
“Obviously, not our best game. But a win is a win,” Hurley said. “Every game matters whether you win by one point or you win by 20. We are happy with the win, but we know we have to get better from this as well.”
Who’s next for Vermont basketball?
The Catamounts play host to Maine at Patrick Gym on Thursday, Jan. 15. It will be a rematch of last year’s America East semifinals, which Maine won to end Vermont’s three-year championship reign.
UVM women’s basketball falls at Binghamton
Yanniah Boyd’s layup with 8 seconds to play broke a tie and gave host Binghamton a 69-67 win over Vermont women’s basketball in an America East contest on Thursday, Jan. 8.
Binghamton (10-5, 2-0) rallied for the win with a 24-13 edge in the fourth quarter. The hosts also benefited from 21-for-25 effort at the foul line to Vermont’s 4-for-7 performance.
Bella Pucci’s 20 points and Boyd’s 16 paced the Bearcats.
For Vermont (13-5, 2-1), Malia Lenz recorded 21 points and nine rebounds, Nikola Priede tallied 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Keira Hanson added 11 points and Emma Haan tossed in seven.

A Harvard University dean has been removed after a student-run news outlet exposed social media posts slamming Whiteness, police and advocating for looting and rioting.
Gregory Davis, the former Dunster House Allston Burr resident dean, found himself in the hot seat after a Harvard student-run news outlet called Yard Report resurfaced the problematic posts. Davis was on leave last semester for reasons unrelated to the controversy.
While Harvard did not confirm that Davis was removed for the inflammatory posts, Fox News Digital obtained the text from an email sent by the faculty deans of Dunster House confirming Davis’ removal.
“We are writing to confirm that Gregory Davis is no longer serving as the Allston Burr Resident Dean of Dunster House, effective today,” the email said. “We thank Gregory for serving in this role and wish him and his family the best in their future endeavors.”

The email message also announced that Emilie Raymer, who served as interim dean during Davis’ absence, would take over the role full time.
“We look forward to seeing everyone again in the coming weeks,” the email said. “As always, we welcome hearing from you on any issues affecting the Dunster community.”
The posts in question were made between 2019 and 2024, mostly on X but also on Instagram. Davis became the dean of the dormitory in 2024.

“It’s almost like Whiteness is a self-destructive ideology that annihilates everyone around it. By design,” he said on X in 2019.
During 2020, when tensions between police and left-wing rioters reached a fever pitch after George Floyd was killed, Davis slammed police.

“You should ask your cop friends to resign since they’re racist and evil,” he said on X at the time.
As rioters and looters wreaked havoc in major metropolitan areas nationwide, Davis defended the chaos.
“Something to keep in mind: rioting and looting are parts of democracy just like voting and marching,” he said on X. “The people WILL be heard.”
In the same year, around the time President Donald Trump tested positive for COVID-19, Davis said on X that he didn’t blame people who wished Trump ill. He followed that post with a second, captioned “But also, f— that guy,” attaching a meme that said “If he dies, he dies.”

Just before Davis accepted his role as dean of the Dunster House in 2024, he made a post about Pride Month on Instagram.
“Wishing everyone a great Pride. Remember to love each other and hate the police,” the post said.
When confronted with the posts, Davis wrote to Dunster House residents in an email about the scandal, which was obtained by Fox News Digital.

“Recently, some media organizations have inquired regarding comments that I made on my personal social media accounts prior to my start in the Resident Dean role,” he wrote. “These posts do not reflect my current thinking or beliefs. I deeply appreciate the responsibility inherent in the Resident Dean role and I value the trust that individuals have placed in me. I regret if my statements have any negative impact on the Dunster community.”
“Since becoming the Allston Burr Resident Dean, I have worked hard to ensure that Dunster House is a welcoming, warm and supportive space for all of its members,” the message continued. “That continues to be the guiding force of my work today. As events outside of Harvard have affected our House and me personally, my commitment to each of you, our students, has not wavered. In my role, I have enjoyed the opportunity to work collaboratively with members of HUPD and other colleagues across campus. I respect the work they do to support our community.”
Davis did not return a request for comment.
