Colby wins Combined Team Title at Maine Collegiate Invite – Colby College

 The Colby Swimming and Diving team had an excellent performance at the Maine Collegiate Invite Friday and Saturday. Teams from University of Maine-Orno, Bates, Bowdoin, Wheaton (MA), Maine Maritime, University of New Englend and Husson came to Waterville to compete in the 3 session meet. The men swam hard fought races and finished 4th overall in the team scores. For the combined team scores the Mules ran away with the meet and beat Divison 1 University of Maine Orno by over 100 pts.

Brandon Xiong started the meet out for the men very strong on Friday and won both the 50 backstroke and 50 Freestyle. In addition senior Ivan Knoepflmacher dove to victory on the 1 m board and also qualified for regionals. Strong performances were shown throughout including 2nd place finishes in the 200 Freestyle by Carson Rehkopf, the 100 Backstoke by Xiong, 200 Backstroke by Spencer Cohen and 200 Butterfly by Skylay Yoham.

The Mules will head to Key Largo for Winter training on December 17th and will be back in action on January 11th when Middlebury comes to Waterville.
