Wallingford police arrested a teenager who was carrying a backpack that allegedly contained Xanax, hallucinogenic mushrooms, other drugs, alcohol, and a BB gun.
Officers responded to the area of Center Street Friday after police received a call reporting a teenager wearing all black putting what appeared to be a gun into his backpack while hiding behind a bush, according to the Wallingford Police Department.
Officers searched the area and found the 17-year-old on Simpson Avenue. They found his backpack nearby and allegedly found a tan BB gun inside it that officers said resembled a real firearm, police said.
The backpack also contained drugs and alcohol, including 115 Xanax pills, 23 grams of psilocybin mushrooms, 3.4 grams of marijuana, bottles of Hennessy and Tito’s Vodka and a cough syrup bottle filled with whiskey. The teen also had a digital scale and baggies in the backpack, police said.
The teen, whose identity has not been released because of his age, is charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, possession of a hallucinogenic with intent to sell, possession of alcohol by a minor and carrying a dangerous weapon, police said.
He is scheduled to appear in juvenile court in New Haven on July 6, police said.
