Connecticut To Have 20-Plus Chase Branches After Expansion

Published

CONNECTICUT — Consumers can expect a bigger presence from Chase bank in Connecticut.

Chase Tuesday announced that it will open more than 500 new bank branches, renovate approximately 1,700 locations and hire 3,500 employees over the next three years and Connecticut is fully in the mix.

The goal, Chase officials said, is “to provide greater access to banking and bring affordable and convenient financial services to more customers and communities across the country.”

Chase officials said that, as part of the national branch expansion plan, five more branches in Connecticut are targeted for the next three years. Three have been identified — Groton, Bloomfield and New Britain. The opening comes on the heels of a branch opening in Vernon in October. After expansion, the Chase roster will exceed 20 locations.

Chase officials said the bank will enter several new markets – including low-to-moderate income and rural communities with little access to traditional banking services – and will continue expanding its footprint in locations like Boston, Philadelphia, Charlotte, NC, the Greater Washington region and Minneapolis, MN.

“When we open a branch, we’re not only investing in the financial health of residents, we’re committed to the health and vitality of the entire community,” said Marianne Lake, Chase’s CEO of Consumer and Community Banking. “We work with government and community leaders to help drive sustainable impact. We provide local expertise and support through our branches; we lend to local businesses of all sizes, create jobs and long-term careers, and finance vital amenities that are the cornerstone of healthy neighborhoods such as hospitals, schools, transportation and grocery stores.”

Chase is touting what is calls “the largest branch network in the United States” and bank officials said is the only bank to have branches in all lower 48 states.

Over the past five years, Chase has added more than 650 branches, including 400 locations in 25 new states. When the latest expansion is complete, Chase will have added more than 1,100 branches and hired more than 10,500 employees to its Consumer Bank team since 2018.

Chase also plans to renovate approximately 1,700 locations, bringing the total number of branches that have been renovated since 2021 to 3,000.

Chase also continues to expand its Community Center branches and hire Community Managers who are focused on helping residents improve their financial health and resilience. Community Center branches are locally-inspired and built with extra space to host complimentary community events and financial health workshops, provide skills training and offer a storefront for small business pop-ups.

Chase currently has a strong presence in north central Connecticut and along the central shoreline in the Nutmeg State. Branches include Enfield, Vernon, Storrs, Manchester, South Windsor, East Hartford, Glastonbury, Hartford, Newington, WethersfieldFarmington, Avon, West Hartford, New Haven, Hamden, Orange and Madison.

The Great Westport Sandwich Contest kicks off with event at Old Mill Grocery

People in Westport have the chance to pick the best thing between sliced bread.

The Westport Weston Chamber of Commerce held a kick-off event at Old Mill Grocery on Monday for The Great Westport Sandwich Contest.

The contest runs throughout March with 21 restaurants, delis and markets competing in 10 categories to be crowned the best sandwich maker.

Residents can vote in the following categories: Best chicken, best steak, best vegetarian, best combo, best club, best NY deli, best pressed sandwich, best breakfast sandwich, best wrap, and best fish/seafood sandwich.

After people sample sandwiches, they can vote for their favorites in each category on the chamber’s website. They will also be placed into a drawing to win a free sandwich from one of the 10 winners.

“Of course, the goal is to have people come to Westport and check out restaurants, our markets and our delis. This is a great promotion. I mean it is a competition, but mostly it’s to bring people to the restaurants. It also gives a great community activity because they are the ones who get to vote who makes the best one,” says Matthew Mandell, the chamber’s executive director.

Winners will be announced in April and receive a plaque.

The chamber has held similar contests to determine what establishment has the best pizza, burger, soup and salad.
