Connecticut State Police police responded to more than 1,300 calls during the winter storm that covered the state with a layer of snow over the weekend, officials say.
State police said troopers responded to 1,351 calls between noon on Saturday and noon on Sunday. Of those, they said 17 were vehicle accidents with injuries, 163 were accidents without injuries and 277 were for various traffic services, such as debris in roads or disabled vehicles.
On Monday morning, police were still doing work related to the storm. In a post on Facebook, police said troopers shut down Route 2 East from Colchester to Norwich until the Connecticut Department of Transportation could treat it for ice. Connecticut’s first winter storm of the season brought a wide range of snow accumulation over the weekend, dropping more than a foot in some northern parts of the state, while the shoreline and some inland areas saw only a few inches.
With that storm behind it, Connecticut prepares for another storm, this one bringing heavy rain and wind and temperatures in the 50s.
