Boston will see a stretch of “unsettled and wet” conditions in the coming week before returning to sunny, hot conditions, according to forecasts from the National Weather Service.
“Overall, we’ve got a pretty quiet, pleasant summer day (Monday), but as we get into the middle of the week, roughly Tuesday through Thursday, conditions are going to transition to more humid and wet,” said NWS Boston meteorologist Rob Megnia. “We’ll have chances for showers with possible thunder each day, Tuesday through Thursday.”
On Monday, high temperatures are predicted to reach the low to mid-80s and conditions are set to be mostly sunny, Megnia said, “pretty nice, seasonable summer day for July.” Heading into Monday night there is a slight chance of showers before 1 a.m., increasing into the early morning.
By Tuesday, the atmosphere will be very humid, Megnia said, making for a wet, unsettled several days. There will likely be periodic breaks between precipitation through to Thursday, according to NWS forecasting.
“There’s gonna be a lot of moisture, so any other showers or storms that do develop could produce some heavy downpours,” said Megnia. “We don’t have all the details right now for which locations will get the most amount of rain, but as we get into tomorrow, early next week, we’ll try to pin that down and see if there’s a risk for any localized urban flash flooding.”
High temperatures through the middle of the week will hover between the high 70s to mid-80s during the mostly cloudy days, forecasts report.
On Friday through Sunday, conditions are predicted to range between the mid- to high 80s. Conditions are expected to return to mostly sunny days, according to NWS forecasts.
“By the end of the week, we’ll kind of transition back to where where we’re expected to be (Monday),” said Megnia. “That will be back towards sunny, warm weather. Next weekend, right now, is looking dry and hot.”
