Should the Celtics Trade for Jae Crowder?

In accordance with Shams Charania of Stadium and The Athletic, because the Suns work to discover a new residence for Jae Crowder, who’s not with the crew proper now, the Atlanta Hawks are amongst these displaying curiosity in buying the 10-year veteran.

However with the Celtics’ second unit missing a pure small ahead, ought to Boston goal for a reunion with Crowder?

Crowder’s a flexible, bodily defender who can guard threes and fours, and he’d convey a gritty component to the Celtics. And whereas his long-range prowess dipped, changing on simply 34.8 % of his 5.4 threes per sport final season, he related on 36.2 % of his 4.6 catch-and-shoot threes, per NBA.com. The season earlier than, when he knocked down 38.9 % of his 6.3 pictures from past the arc, Crowder drilled 39.6 % of his 5.5 catch-and-shoot threes.

As for his contract, the 32-year-old will make $10.2 million for the approaching marketing campaign, per Spotrac. With Danilo Gallinari unlikely to play this season because of a torn ACL, Boston might supply him and his $6.5 million wage, together with Payton Pritchard, to Phoenix and see if the Suns chunk. Phoenix already has Cameron Payne and Landry Shamet coming off the bench, however there is a case for Pritchard being higher than each.

Nonetheless, the Suns are skinny on the wings and on the middle place and sure need to deal with at the very least one, if not each, in return for Crowder. As Phoenix appears to maneuver Crowder whereas aiding its quest for the Larry O’Brien Trophy, the Celtics do not look like a match as a commerce accomplice.

Whereas there’s some enchantment to the thought of bringing Crowder again, Boston’s in all probability higher off as presently constructed. The Celtics haven’t got a pure small ahead to convey off the bench, however one’s place is finally about who they will guard. Malcolm Brogdon, who has a 6’10 wingspan, can bump up a spot defensively. Derrick White, who has a 6’7.5 wingspan, can do the identical.

And with in the present day’s sport that includes a excessive quantity of pick-and-rolls to create a numbers benefit and Boston using a switch-heavy scheme to negate that, who one begins on solely issues a lot.

It is also price noting White’s began the Celtics’ first three preseason video games. Joe Mazzulla has cautioned to not learn an excessive amount of into the beginning lineup and acknowledged he is prepared to tinker with that unit primarily based on the matchup. Nonetheless, White seems more likely to begin typically whereas Robert Williams works his means again from an arthroscopic knee process.

An alternative choice inside the second unit is to slip Grant Williams down a spot to protect small forwards. Plus, the bench will get built-in with the starters, which means at the very least considered one of Marcus Sensible, Jayson Tatum, and Jaylen Brown shall be on the market to assist Boston match up defensively.

Moreover, the 24-year-old Pritchard, an underrated defender, is eight years youthful than Crowder, inexpensive, for now at the very least, and he is a extra versatile shooter, efficient off the catch and the dribble. By two NBA seasons, Pritchard’s changing 3.6 pictures from past the arc at a 41.2 % clip.

So, whereas Crowder would give the Celtics’ second unit a extra pure construction, as constructed, they’re quicker, extra dynamic, and higher off. And as acknowledged earlier, even when the Suns deem this a good supply, they’re doubtless trying to improve a special spot or two on the depth chart.

Mobile beer garden series kicks off in South Boston – The Boston Globe

Seven Boston parks will get an infusion of local beer, food, music, and art this summer in a mobile beer garden series starting in South Boston this week.

Hyde Park’s Roundhead Brewing Co. is partnering with Fresh Food Generation, a farm-to-plate Caribbean American restaurant and food truck in Dorchester, on the beer gardens. It’s a series they’re calling “Alianza,” or alliance, speaking to Roundhead cofounder Craig Panzer’s desire to unite folks from different Boston neighborhoods. As BIPOC business owners in the city, Panzer and Fresh Food Generation CEO Cassandria Campbell do more than talk about representing all Bostonians.

“Roundhead is all about building community, and we are darn proud of our place and neighborhood in Hyde Park,” says Panzer. “The mobile beer garden is the perfect opportunity for us to continue doing what we’re doing.”

The rotating beer gardens are structured as follows: At each location, Alianza will operate from Wednesday to Sunday for two consecutive weeks, before traveling to the next neighborhood park. The South Boston beer garden opened June 19 and operates Wednesday and Thursday from 4 to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from noon to 9 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.

Fresh Food Generation’s Campbell says that “every two weeks, not only will the location change, but we will be featuring a new menu item in honor of each neighborhood.” The company’s typical dishes combine New England ingredients with Caribbean flavors for mains like jerk chicken and sides like Haitian beet salad. Campbell says that in addition to food and beer, each beer garden will reserve space for local artists and musicians.

Those unfamiliar with Roundhead’s beer offerings should expect brews inspired by the founders’ Peruvian heritage, including a cherry rosemary saison and a Peruvian red ale brewed with purple corn.

“Roundhead is designed as the smallest brewery in Boston for a reason — so we can constantly rotate in fresh batches, and new recipes,” says Panzer.

Introducing craft beer to groups who might not have been familiar with it before has been rewarding, says Panzer.

“People who come to Roundhead in Hyde Park are curious,” he says. “That’s what happens when you intentionally bring different cultures to the customer’s brewery experience.”

The seven beer garden locations were chosen by the city. Future beer garden neighborhood locations, in order, are in the Fenway, East Boston, Roxbury, Jamaica Plain, Dorchester, and Brighton. For more details, go to roundheadbrewing.com/alianza-park-series.
