Boston College Football vs. Western Kentucky Kickoff Time Announced
The ACC has announced the kickoff time for Boston College football’s Week 5 contest against the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers on Sept. 28 at Alumni Stadium in Chestnut Hill, Mass.
The game will be at noon ET and air on ACC Network.
The two programs will meet for the first time in their histories. Currently, both teams are sitting at 2-1 on the season, but got to that point in different ways.
Boston College has had success in the early part of the season. The Eagles defeated the then-No. 10 Florida State Seminoles 28-13 on Labor Day Night on the road to open their season and followed that win with a 56-0 rout of Duquesne in their home opener on Sept. 7. The team suffered its first loss of the season over the weekend to the No. 7 Missouri Tigers 27-21 in Columbia, Mo.
The opposite has happened for Western Kentucky. The Hilltoppers started their season on a sour note, getting shut out 63-0 by the No. 4 Alabama Crimson Tide in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Aug. 31 to open their season. Since then, the team has won two games in a row, Eastern Kentucky 31-0 on Sept. 7 and Middle Tennessee State 49-21 on Sept. 14.
For each team, this matchup marks the last game before conference play. Western Kentucky will be looking to add a quality win onto its schedule while Boston College will be hoping to finish out its non-conference slate on a positive note.
Both teams will play one more game before they face off. On Saturday, the Eagles host Michigan State at 8 p.m. ET on ACC Network and the Hilltoppers host Toledo at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN+.

Former Boston Market building goes up in flames in Sacramento-area
SACRAMENTO – The former Boston Market building near east Sacramento went up in flames Sunday morning.
The fire broke out at the building along Fair Oaks Boulevard around 10:30 a.m.
The building, which is surrounded by other businesses, has been vacant for about three years, and firefighters said no one was inside.
The Sacramento Metro Fire said the cool temperatures helped with the firefight but the wind made it difficult. They were able to protect surrounding buildings.
The building was destroyed and the cause is under investigation, but crews said they are not ruling out arson.
The property owner’s lawyer said they plan to rebuild once the permits are obtained. There were previous plans to potentially redevelop it into a Starbucks.

Extra Point; September 15, 2024: Boston College Drops First Game of the Season; Falls to Missouri 27-21
The Boston college eagles lost their first game of the year, falling 27-21 to sixth ranked Missouri and dropping to 2-1 on the season.
Quarterback Thomas Castellanos put together a strong performance through the air, but was unable to overcome two costly interceptions, and the offense as a whole was unable to ever find rhythm in the run game.
Head coach Bill O Brien, following the game, said of his team’s offensive struggles, “[Missouri] has a good front. Got a good front, we got a good offensive line. I would say that we battled, we got behind. We had to throw the ball a little bit more but give Missouri credit, they did a good job up front. They tackled, well, they got a good team. I mean, if Missouri’s number six in the country, they’re there for a reason. They got a good football team and we just weren’t able to establish a consistent running game, and that’s got to improve moving forward.”
Through the first two games of the season, the Eagles averaged an impressive 284 yards on the ground, but were held to just 49 against Missouri.
Boston College moves back home next week to take on the Michigan State Spartans who are 3-0, but have two one score wins.
The Spartans have held opponents to under 100 rushing yards a game up to this point, so Thomas Castellanos and company will have their work cut out for them if they hope to bounce back after a close week 2 loss.
