The plane crash near Washington D.C. Wednesday night involving an American Airlines fight and an Army helicopter has disrupted travel at East Coast airports.
The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed there were 60 passengers and four crew on board American Eagle flight 5342 from Wichita that collided mid-air with a Blackhawk helicopter over the Potomac River around 9 p.m.
In Boston, planes departing and arriving at Logan Airport have been affected, according to the flight-tracking website FlightAware.
Flights between Logan and Ronald Reagan National Airport near Washington were disrupted.
American Airlines Flight 2120, originally scheduled to depart from Reagan at 10 p.m. and arrive at Logan by 11:37 p.m., was delayed by about 8 hours, according to tFlightAware. Two Republic Airways flights, one set to fly out of Reagan at 10 p.m. and another scheduled to depart at 6 a.m. Thursday morning, were cancelled.
For passengers flying out of Logan, Republic Airways flight 4383 scheduled to land at Reagan at 8:32 p.m. was diverted to Philadelphia, landing at 9:30 p.m., according to FlightAware. Two other Republic Airways flights, one scheduled to leave Logan at 7:59 p.m. and another scheduled to take off at 9:45 p.m., were cancelled.
