Celtics at Raptors: Boston falls 119-118 as late push by deep rotation falls short

The Boston Celtics made the trip to Canada’s Scotia Bank Arena to take on the Toronto Raptors for their final preseason exhibition tilt of the NBA’s 2024-25 season, with a 4-0 record to defend against a team expected to be in the thick of the hunt for good draft lottery odds.

The Celtics started their normal cadre of players with one glaring exception — second-year forward Jordan Walsh starting in the place of veteran guard Jrue Holiday. You would not know the Raps have low expectations for the season ahead, with Toronto jumping out to a 24-point lead in the game’s first half.

Late game heroics by Boston’s deep rotation players nearly stole the contest back for the Celtics after hanging around for much of the second half, but clutch free throws late would seal the deal for the Raps to the tune of 119-188 as Boston falls to 4-1 in preseason play.

Boston College Football Bowl Projections After Week 7

The Boston College Eagles football team is getting ready to return to action against the Virginia Tech Hokies after having 12 days off.

Throughout the first half of the season, the Eagles have secured a 4-2 overall record which includes 1-1 in ACC play. They have recorded wins over Florida State, Duquesne, Michigan State, and Western Kentucky as well as losses against No. 19 Missouri and Virginia.

Due to the team’s first bye week of the season, most of the projections from the previous week have not changed, however Boston College’s predicted opponents have.

Currently, the Eagles are projected in five different bowls by five different media outlets.

Rhode Island's Washington Bridge demolition set to continue Tuesday

The demolition of the Washington Bridge in Rhode Island is set to continue on Tuesday.

The bridge takes Interstate 195 across the Seekonk River, connecting Rhode Island with Massachusetts.

The westbound side was suddenly shut down in December over safety concerns, but demolition stopped in September to preserve evidence tied to a lawsuit over the bridge’s failure.

State transportation officials held a public meeting about the bridge on Friday, but it only lasted nine minutes, and they didn’t answer any questions.

“Specifically the fact that it was 6 p.m. on a Friday wasn’t sufficient enough, and people weren’t satisfied, so we’re going to hopefully do a take two and we’ll have an opportunity for people to have their questions answered,” Providence City Councilor John Goncalves told NBC10 Boston.

Rhode Island Gov. Daniel McKee is expected to give an update at 10 a.m. Tuesday about the bridge demolition.
