Northwestern Wildcats softball team beats Wisconsin, advances to Big Ten semifinals

EAST LANSING, Mich. (CBS) — The Northwestern girls’s softball workforce will advance after beating Wisconsin within the Large Ten Match quarterfinals Thursday.

With runners on second and third within the first inning, the Badgers’ catcher could not maintain onto the ball, and Large Ten Participant of the Yr Rachel Lewis was desirous to get the Wildcats on the board by benefiting from that wild pitch. She slid into residence plate for a rating of 1-0.

Within the second, Lewis hit a bases-loaded single and introduced in two.

The Badgers received a solo homer within the fifth, however pitcher Danielle Williams struck out the subsequent two batters to finish the inning. However the Wildcats scored two extra runs within the sixth. Skyler Shellmyer had an RBI as she introduced round Grace Nieto.

With a closing strikeout delivered by Williams, the Wildcats beat the Badgers 5-2.  

The Wildcats will now advance to the Large Ten semifinals.
