INTERVIEW: Explaining Wisconsin’s redistricting

GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) – Drawing Wisconsin’s political boundaries for legislative districts was a drawn out battle that in the end concerned the U.S. Supreme Courtroom.

Pre-emptively, Democratic Gov. Tony Evers and out of doors teams challenged the Legislature’s redistricting plans, anticipating the Republican majority to gerrymander the districts to attempt to guarantee a Republican majority for Congressional and Legislative seats for the subsequent 10 years.

The state Supreme Courtroom chosen Gov. Evers’ redistricting plans, which moved the fewest numbers of voters into new districts. The Democratic governor’s maps nonetheless gave Republicans the sting in a majority of seats.
