Chris Borland heads back to Wisconsin as Hall of Fame inductee
Chris Borland’s spot in Wisconsin’s Athletic Hall of Fame came with the kind of résumé that represented the modern Badgers defense: massive production, big-game hardware and Midwestern toughness.
Wisconsin selected Borland as one of 12 athletes, staff, and supporters in the class of 2026 Hall of Fame inductees. The group will enter the Hall of Fame the weekend of Sept. 18 this fall, with Borland and the rest of the class honored during Wisconsin’s matchup against Eastern Michigan on Sept. 19 at Camp Randall Stadium.
Borland starred at linebacker for Wisconsin from 2009 to 2013 and finished as one of the program’s most decorated defenders of the era. He earned 2013 first-team All-America honors, won Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, and closed his career with 420 tackles. He also played in three Rose Bowls, anchoring a defense built around physicality, instincts and tackling that excelled in big moments.
Borland’s induction adds a football centerpiece to a nine-sport Hall of Fame class, and it lands on a weekend that will bring a full Camp Randall spotlight back to former Badgers. Wisconsin fans will get their on-field Hall of Fame moment on Sept. 19, when the Badgers host Eastern Michigan and Borland’s career highlights take center stage again in Madison.

What did prized Wisconsin commit Baboucarr Ann average in 2025-26?
The Wisconsin Badgers basketball offseason has looked slightly different than normal through the month of June.
Head coach Greg Gard’s class of 2027 rounds out the month of June, featuring three high-profile high school talents. Headlined by four-star in-state sensation Jalen Brown, the class also features three-star center Jack Thelen and Baboucarr Ann, Minnesota’s No. 1 prospect for the class of ’27.

While 247Sports considers Brown the No. 70 player, No. 13 shooting guard, and No. 5 recruit from Wisconsin for the class of 2027, Ann’s status as a small forward is certainly comparable. The outlet’s composite ranking ranks Ann as the No. 63 overall player, No. 18 small forward, and top-rated recruit from his state, making the tandem one of the most prestigious duos to commit to UW in recent history.
247Sports’ director of scouting Adam Finkelstein had this to say about Ann in his recruiting profile:
“Ann is a long-armed, two-way wing who already has versatile tools and yet plenty of potential to keep improving for the foreseeable future… Ann is a long-armed, two-way wing who already has versatile tools and yet plenty of potential to keep improving for the foreseeable future.”
But how did Ann perform during his latest season with Maple Grove High School in Maple Grove, Minnesota?

Through 31 games, he averaged 18.9 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 1.4 steals per appearance, according to StribVarsity. If Ann can provide even half of that production as a freshman, Wisconsin’s wing depth could look quite scary when he arrives in Madison.

2027 Wisconsin commit unexpectedly visits with prestigious SEC program
Badgers’ Evan Flood recently had a chance to break down prized Wisconsin Badgers commit Yahzeen Zion’s visit to LSU.
In the NIL era, it’s incredibly hard for Luke Fickell’s squad to compete with an SEC program, let alone try and take down LSU.
Zion committed to the Badgers back on June 6. According to 247Sports, he’s had visits with Oklahoma, LSU, and Mississippi State since pledging his commitment to play in Madison.
Flood wrote (subscription required), “The trip was supposed to be cancelled, but Zion unexpectedly traveled to Baton Rouge.”
That said, Flood’s sources firmly believe Zion “has not been swayed.”
Knowing Zion chose the Badgers over prestigious programs like Georgia, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Auburn, among many others, it would be a tough pill to swallow if all of a sudden, now he decides he’d rather play elsewhere.
