A Wisconsin town settled an election tie with a dice roll after also considering pulling names from a hat and drawing straws

• A village in Wisconsin had a tie of their April election for village board president. 
• Sister Bay determined to find out the subsequent president with a cube roll. 
• Nate Bell beat Rob Zoschke with a 6-2 to roll. 

A city in Wisconsin determined its subsequent village board president with a cube roll after a tie between the highest two candidates, the BBC reported. 

Nate Bell beat incumbent Rob Zoschke because the Sister Bay Village Board president after the cube rolled 6-2 in his favor, the BBC reported. Each candidates had been tied with 256 votes. 

“All of us want that yet one more individual had voted,” Village Board of Canvassers member Mary Smythe advised NBC26.

Heidi Teich, the village’s clerk, advised NBC26 that when ties occur within the very small city, the tiebreaker is one thing random, comparable to pulling names from a hat, slicing a deck of playing cards, drawing straws, or flipping a coin. 

“It is drawn a variety of curiosity as a result of it is such an uncommon factor,” Teich advised the BBC. “For it to be settled with a kids’s sport is sort of distinctive.”

This is not the primary time that an election has been decided by likelihood. This previous December, a Richmond, California metropolis council seat was decided by a reputation draw after two candidates, Andrew Butt and Cesar Zepeda, each recieved 1,921 votes, KGO reported. In Isleton, one other small California city, a metropolis council race final November was decided by a coin flip after two candidates tied, CBS Information reported. 

Smythe advised NBC26 the incident reveals why it is necessary to vote.

“Our nation, our democracy is determined by knowledgeable and lively residents,” Smythe stated.
